Star Lab is starting our third year with 50 enrolled students! We are thrilled to be able to expand our impact, and can't thank our foundational investors enough. Many families are attracted to our student-centered academic program, some choose us because of our hourly recess, and others are drawn to our regular community field trips.

Still other families come to us upset - their child has been asked to leave their previous school, or they experienced treatment they couldn't excuse. Star Lab exists to serve these families too - our school is designed to help the children who aren't getting what they need elsewhere. As we enter our third year, we are even more confident that we can make a difference.

We CAN teach each child to read. Our teachers are highly trained in explicit and systematic instruction, and can increase the dosage of lessons as needed to get every child making lasting neural connections. We have seen children's lives transformed, over and over, even in our two years of operation.

We CAN help children who were previously suspended or expelled from other schools. We use small classes with a co-teaching model, so every child is seen and guided. With both formal and informal opportunities to learn and receive feedback, we help children learn and practice positive social skills that help them both act and feel better in the long run.

We CAN make a difference for families, even those who are struggling significantly with life's challenges. We provide free before- and aftercare, healthy homemade meals, free uniforms and field trips - and parents breathe a sigh of relief. Their child is coming home happy and well-fed, and family life gets easier. We host bonding experiences for the parents as well - this summer we launched a series of cooking classes, and we also took a group of students and families to the Asolo Theater to see The Wizard of Oz!

If you want to be part of Star Lab, we welcome your partnership. This year the state allocation is around $9000 per student, which is short of our $11,500 cost to educate a child.

Can you help us by providing a $2500 scholarship this month to give one of our 50 students access to the full Star Lab experience?

We have an incredible offer from the TVT Family Foundat to match the first $25,000 we raise in August! If you can participate, now is the time!
